So, I like wiki-style editing. I know the fundamental aspect of a wiki is collaborative editing, but I'm more interested in how easy it is to cross-reference texts, particularly the ability to reference documents that don't exist yet.

This kind of document editing/organizing would be very helpful for a couple of personal projects I'm working on, and I'm wondering if there is some wiki-like software to work offline (I don't necessarily want to publish those projects) something like media wiki or even doku wiki (the software that the IC wiki uses) would be nice.

I can't set up a personal web server and free wiki pages like pbwiki don't satisfy my needs. So far my searches for this kind of software have proved unsuccessful. Does anybody know if such a program exists? does it have database/categorization and allows one to use tables and images?

Help would be much appreciated.

So I've been fooling around with this.

It's... a bit too clunky for my taste. i'd much rather prefer wiki syntax for, you know, having control over how the text looks.

Also, doesn't allow formatting unless you buy the pro version. Any alternatives?
