|
|
let's talk about weather!
here in japan, june is known as the rainy month. this means that it rains about four to five hours a day, only you can't pick the hours. it might be twenty minutes now, thirty minutes six hours from now, then ten minutes an hour later, then three straight hours, et cetera. it's really obnoxious!
because of this erratic precipitation schedule, i have been unable to hang my futons outside to dry for over a month. you'd figure that entering july would make it less rainy. not so fast!! it's still raining. and my apple weather widget shows that it'll be raining every day until sunday. who knows what next monday will bring.
july 7th is the tanabata festival, the only day of the year during which the stars vega and altair are supposedly visible in the sky at once. however, tanabata is based on a chinese myth, and in the chinese calendar, the seventh day of the seventh month is something like the end of august, so who really knows. they say that if it rains on july 7th, the two celestial lovers won't be able to meet, and will have to wait until next year. poor kids!
so what's the weather like over there?
i'm just posting this to communicate the weird slot-machine-like feeling i got when checking the weather widget and seeing rain all across the board. _________________

1:15 in the AM and it's 94/34 degrees outside.
108, what's your take on this stuff?
 |
you mean the hot stuff?
i like vegas and its environs. i like the hundred-and-nine-degree nights. i like dry eyeballs every once in a while, and i like it when corneas fog up like cheap car windows when you enter a 7-eleven. it's refreshing, sometimes.
they say it's exceptional for your skin, as well. the desert, i mean. _________________
