Actually I saw a lot of restaurants closed yesterday, and people on my block still go ridiculously drunk and shot fireworks from their roof decks. Each time I heard an ambulance about five minutes later.

Also, last summer when I was in Colorado the whole week of the 4th gave me empty roads because people weren't going to work. I've always taken it to be just another work day, but all around me that never is the case.
