Here's an inscrutable, but highly excellent flash game from Japan: Rose & Camellia, which can best be described as a bunch of women slapping each other to classical music. Seems to be made some of the people responsible for last year's excellent la mulana.
As for why these Victorian women have gotten into a slap-fest, star poster Broco explains:
The plot, according to the text below the game, is that the player girl is a commoner who marries into a noble family. One day after the marriage, her new husband breathes his last -- but the pampered harpies running the House refuse to give this low-blood the honor that is her due. There is only one way to resolve the matter!

Totally needs a DS port.
Also, I suck at this game. Is there any way to make it less likely to have the bitches evade? _________________

The meter at the top left indicates who has the slapping initiative. While it's moving left, only you can attack; while it's moving right, the enemy attacks but you get to counterslap after successful evades.
The only really important thing is to always prepare to evade as soon as the meter on the top left touches the left. To evade just trace perfectly horizontally back to the location of the attack icon. Then as soon as the counter icon appears counterslap by drawing a straight line through the enemy's face. The stun of the counterslap will usually prevent the enemy from slapping again until you regain the initiative.
I don't believe the shape of your trace affects the quality of the slap; whether it's a normal, critical or miss seems random. So just draw straight lines since that's fastest. _________________

Also I think it is funny because the first time I played this I was totally like "I wish this was a DS game :(" |

Rose & Camellia, actually.
The plot, according to the text below the game, is that the player girl is a commoner who marries into a noble family. One day after the marriage, her new husband breathes his last -- but the pampered harpies running the House refuse to give this low-blood the honor that is her due. It's where the cursor connects with the face that makes it a normal or critical hit. Each girl you slap has a different area where a fast enough cursor to register a hit will make it CRITICAL. The maid has it just under her chin, for example. And I believe the further away you are from the spot the more likely you get a miss.
Except that I couldn't find it with the old hag or the FINAL BATTLE. And yes, she's a bitch. Miss a counter and you will get countered. Throw a slap too high, get countered.
I just want to curl up in a corner than meet her again. |

The maid was really creepy, what with the wall crawling. Please tell me an online multiplayer version is in the works.
Also, I want to marry Player Character. _________________

Wow, awesome. And I just happen to be watching Rose of Versailles.
Playing in easy, I got to whom I think must be the final boss, the one with the dramatic intro. But I couldn't beat her. |
