Is there any resource for keeping track of what's playing where and when, and what people think of it?
Alternatively: does anyone know any good theater groups, or plays? Anyone know of any interesting concerts being put on around here? |

You can check out Zellerbach hall's schedule on the UC Berkeley website:
http://www.calperfs.berkeley.edu/
They usually have some classy stuff going on. |

you can browse by club or band or date or anything
and its all in the sf bay area
this website has been around for a million kajillion years
not much on what people think of it, last.fm is trying to have a review thing for upcoming shows though _________________

Actually, yeah. This would also be a great excuse to actually go out and see some of this stuff.
Wait. You're in the bay area? |

Yep. San Jose. Takes an hour-ish to get to San Fran via a bus and BART, but that's not any worse than when I was taking trips up to Boston to see stuff back on the East Coast. _________________

There's also Caltrain, of course.
How long have you been around here? Somehow I got the impression you were... elsewhere. Somewhere east of the Mississippi. |

Jesus if you're in San Jose you don't have to go through all that trouble. Daphny and I could pick you up. We live right off 880 at Bascom. |

Oh shit! That sounds excellent.
Okay, I'm really thinking we should do this now. Doesn't have to be like some giant epic play or anything, just catch a show and chill at a cafe or a bar or something after. I can do my usual thing of doling out goodies that I have kicking around the apartment that people might like. I think I gave out loaded MAME discs at E3 last time that had a full collection of all the IC MAME Thread selections.
I actually still have that disc, I think.
And Aderack, yeah, I lived in Providence until about 6 months ago, then fled out here. I like it! _________________

Hey, I went to a Nine Inch Nails concert in Providence. The audience was kind of suicidally insane.
I fucking love San Francisco. It'll always be my city. First place I ever lived by choice, and first place I really fell in love with. Though Boston is pretty good. The Bay Area in general is a good place to live.
So yeah. I guess we should get started looking at what's going on. This right here has potential. Mind you, I've never heard of most of these acts.
I imagine theater will be a little lower-key. |

I'm down for whatever. I don't really know anyone out here besides my roommates, so any excuse to get out of the god damn house is fine with me.
Long as it's cheap. I'm about as strapped for cash as I can get until payday (unless someone wants to front me and I'll pay for the next one of these for you or something). _________________

| The Rock the Bells tour is the most amazing concert this summer. Nas, Wu-Tang Clan, EPMD, Public Enemy, and MF Doom are all well worth seeing individually, which makes the tickets pretty reasonable. It's coming to San Francisco on August 18th. |

theres that treasure island festival coming up in september i think
some of the bands look alright, although some are painfully indie
also also just keep tuypign band names you like into the list and you're bound to get like at least 2 good shows coming up _________________

I'm poking around for any bands I know...
What's a preferred genre, if any? I kinda like heavier stuff but I'm up for anything. _________________

58 bucks for one day is pretty steep for that line-up : /
I live in Santa Barbara but I have a few friends up in the Bay Area, so I wouldn't mind coordinating a visit to hit up a show. _________________

How big is the Filmore? Girl Talk puts on a fucking amazing live show, I would prioritize that over everything except maybe the Advantage. _________________

oh wow aderacks, please let me educate you on some amazing music and join me at a few of these shows
animal collective is beyond words amazing, multi-instrumentalists just like GET ME GOING
the pogues are a seminal traditional irish folk punk band that has been around since the late 70s. you know flogging molly and dropkick murphys? think of them as terrible, washed-up, americanized rip offs of the pogues
man i can send some of this stuff to numberic if you're on it just not righty now im on morphine
edit: my opinion on the pougues is totally biased as i am a second generation full blooded irish girl, and god i wish i was more irish and god the pogues make me feel good _________________
