Yeah, if anything, I would say that the BDSM scene is better in that regard because the power dynamics are overt. In 'normal' sexual relationships, there's almost always power dynamics, only they're often not talked about, which leads to frequent situations of uh, abuse and coercion, only there aren't any safewords.

This is not to say that coercive/abusive relationships don't happen in the context of BDSM, of course, just that the explicit nature of them generally allows for less dickery, not more.
