Yeah, I was talking to a few people last night who were interested in it for the same reasons I am and they asked if they should bother with the demo. My response was "all the demo really does is assure you that it plays well, the rest is pretty much exactly what has been shown or talked about elsewhere already only in demo form."
The demo does a great job making sure you know the mechancal side of it is sound! _________________

From what I understand (though I haven't tried it yet), you just need to set your 360 preferences to start you in hard mode; then Bioshock will start with hard mode selected. Just press A and there you go. |
Right. I meant that the option itself is grayed out in the demo, so you couldn't select it even if you wanted. |
Actually, oepn, I didn't understand you. You're absolutely right! You can unlock the hard mode in the demo by setting it to be the default from your 360 dashboard. _________________

I'm actually not so sure of this anymore. I'm wondering if they'll pull a judo-Rand-flip and say that Andrew Ryan actually tricked and trapped Randian heroes to work for him. Very interested to see where this goes. And why Atlas started the revolt, and why shit went all to hell shortly after the revolt. With people still wearing their party masks.
That last bit really has me scratching my head. |
Is it Atlas that starts the rioting? I'm not even sure it is a revolt as it is pure chaos. |
It was really hard to tell, and I still might have heard it wrong. Do you remember the radio with the party-goer's recording on it? She was in love with Andrew Ryan or something? Well, on playing the demo again I thought I heard voices saying stuff like "For Atlas!" or something similar. Dammit! I'm going to have to play the demo again tonight. |
"Long live Atlas!" and "Death to Ryan!" I'm sure of it now. _________________ I can no longer shop happily. |

Played it on Hard.
The short of it: Enemies are slightly more aggressive and they take a few more blows from the wrench to go down. You can still dispatch them easily with the guns, though ammo is more scarce, as well as EVE. I didn't have much problem Quaking through the demo, but I still enjoyed it. I might play the main game on Hard from the start, even. _________________

You are, probably. But I'm going to regret not having an awesome surround sound system. _________________

Mine likes it medium loud, which is how I like it. We also like the LFE and Bass up really high. Big Daddies shake my windows when they walk. _________________

Here's my issue.
My TV only looks good in the dark.
My receiver only works on loud.
I have a wife that screams when the lights are off and the music's loud.
I suck. _________________

Sounds like you're whipped.
Also, sucks about your TV only working in the dark.
I have a minor recommendation: red lights. I have red hanging lamps in my living room which both keep it bright enough to do things while also keeping your room "dark" enough to do other things like watch tv in under circumstances that trick your eyes.
And the receiver: sounds like you need a new one. Or really good headphones. _________________

Nevermind... it's too easy.
Seriously though, what's the deal? Is she afraid of the dark or something? There's no need for lights unless you're reading or something. Do you have to watch movies with lights on? |

I do need some really good headphones.
The receiver is a cheap Sony one, thats a good few years old. It's perfectly fine, but it just doesnt seem to pack as much punch, unless you really turn it up loud...

Oh god that was the first thing I noticed too ;_;. A little muddy in the low end, otherwise great headphones for the price.
Eagerly awaiting the PC demo over here. Probably play some SysShock 2 to quell my thirst. From the beginning, since I forgot to make a menu save after doing two hours of work. |

It's cool, mang.
The reason Rand pisses me off so much is because she isn't entirely off the mark, but sabotages any worthwhile points she has to make by cowering in her ridiculous New Morality assumptions, the worst sort of arse-covering excess this side of the latest Nietzsche supporters ("OMG THE NAZIS TOTALLY MISCONSTRUED THE RIGHTS OF THE STRONG!"). And she can't write for shit.
Worst still, people listen to her. Then do stuff like vote or become lawyers.
P.S. Don't know if it's been mentioned here yet, but a PDF artbook has been released here. _________________

Only the foreword, as they warn on the site. So don't read it. The art section contains work from previous versions of the game, all the way back to when it was to take place in an abandoned WWII research facility and deal with more insectoid creatures. _________________

That's actually a pretty standard size for a demo these days. The full game is 8.6Gb, according to Steam. _________________

| I dunno, but that link above delivered the demo in something like twenty minutes. I guess I rock? Either way, yeah, not very playable on my computer. More playable than I thought it would be, but that's not saying much. |

I resorted to torrenting the demo overnight. I just barely meet the minimum requirements so I'll post results later.

Not as enraged as you will be. Wait for it.
The "soundtrack" is three remixes of "period music" by Moby. Not actual game music. Three tracks. |
