I will be driving from New Jersey (probably), and I hereby announce that I would be pleased to pick up wayward SBers within reasonable proximity to my route. It would be neat if such individuals offered to contribute to my gas tank, but that is not a requirement or anything.

Edit: Oh, my intentions, yes. Well, I have one of those enviable jobs that I perform at my leisure and when I like, so I don't really have a schedule to worry about. I would like to stay for at least a couple of days, since the road trip will be like 12 hours long, but I have no specific needs. I guess I could just hang around from the day before to the day after, or maybe plus one both ways? We'll see how people are clustered as the thread goes on.

Touran, I went to school at Alfred and know the Buffalo area somewhat. The whole package is like five-seven hours from me. If you could take a train or bus south to some point along my route, you could hop in my car for the greater journey and probably save some cash doggie.

Newark is not really by me exactly, but it is not far either when compared to Kentucky. I wouldn't want to go into Newark because guns but there's no reason why I couldn't drive north a little ways to pick you up before getting started.

Mr. Felix and I have come to an arrangement, so I would like to take this moment to update any interested parties with a tentative schedule for our road trip. It has been decreed that Mr. Felix shall arrive at my home on the eve of December 28th; we will then proceed to "hang" until our time of departure. This may be the morn of the 29th or that of the 30th, depending upon the needs of others joining in this endeavor or upon our need to do more "hanging."

The actual road tripping shall likely take a full day in each direction, depending upon how much actual tripping takes place. I suppose a fair estimate might be 6AM thru 8PM including stops for food and rest, but the route may lengthen if we must sway in order to pick up any pedestrians. With the blessings of our hosts, my companion(s) and I shall stay in Kentucky from late December 29th or 30th until early January 2nd, at which time we shall depart again for more northeastern climes.

Without creating unreasonable seating arrangements, two more people are invited to ride in my vehicle (and share in gasoline costs) so long as they live within a modest distance of our prescribed route or are able to transport themselves to my abode. If more than two people show interest, Mr. Felix and I will have to arrange the terms of a duel to decide which is the more worthy traveling companion. Cash bribes and hard drugs may also be considered.

I would like to state a brief disclaimer at this time. Although I fully intend to carry through with this plan, I would ask that you do not accept this intention as promise. My vehicle is every bit as old as it is hardy, and I will be having its readiness thoroughly assessed by a professional prior to departure. Although I have very little reason to expect a problem, the minuscule chance of one's occurrence prevents me from guaranteeing that I can see this event through to its conclusion. I should be able to provide an update on this matter later in the month.

You should seriously consider coming. I don't know about you, but I haven't been to a real New Year's party for years. Just because I've been around in this online community for years doesn't mean I won't be uncomfortable socially at first. Also, I'll be away from any kind of solitary comfort zone for days, which is something I'm not accustomed to. But this promises to be a rollicking good time with lots of good folks. And we'll have a nice, long road trip for bookends; another body means more company and having gas split further. It's good for everyone involved to have you along. Plus, if you want to make friends here, what better way than to take this opportunity to meet everyone in person?

In all seriousness, should I bring any games or DVDs? I know this isn't going to be a drunken West Wing marathon, but I probably have some stuff people could like. I mean, I could bring three seasons of Batman: The Animated Series, which could be good background material. I guess bringing my DS Lite and games would be a good idea. What else? I don't think I have any real rarities. SotN for PS-X? Ikaruga for GCN? Rez for PS2? Tell me what to do.
