You should calibrate your monitor! |

| Maybe that's the whole point of the title, given the song that it's for. |

| I am not nearly as enamored of the various works within Knytt Stories as I still am of the original Knytt. |
I agree with most of your points. Knytt is precisely what was needed to shake the current paradigm, in my eyes. If only more people were looking attentively enough. Maybe if it was released commercially, but it would still get mediocre-to-low scores from reviewers expecting 'value,' 'replayability,' 'graphics,' 'online multiplayer modes...'
I'm sad that most people don't get its understated beauty. Most people would rather play WaDF or Knytt Stories, as they have you doing more stuff, they challenge you and keep you busy.

| About Knytt, once again, I agree with you in idea but not in reality. The thing is, I can't ignore the fact that there are goal-items to collect and a beam of guiding light to lead me to them. I just can't forget that it's in there. If someone were to hack Knytt to remove the items and the light ability, then I would absolutely fucking love it. Really. I badly want someone to do that. Hack Knytt, take out the items you can gather, take off the little mini-window that you can bring up to show what you've found so far, remove the light beam ability... take off the enemy-detecting red glow while you're at it. Now Knytt is perfect. Now it is a fantastic, unique, original delight and I love it. |
I don't think you would have even paid any attention to the game if it had been released like that. Nifflas brilliantly put a story in your hands: you're a knytt stuck in an alien planet. You suspect that you'd be able to go back by collecting the dispersed parts of the saucer. The very collection is the trip. You can end it whenever you like, or you can ignore it and spend more time there. The secret places are proof that the game is more than collecting things. Fixing the saucer only means to end the game, and there's no compelling reason to do that if you don't feel inclined to doing it, the world is not going to end. |

| I don't understand what you mean by that. |
I meant to say that what you described is what you think you'd like, but most likely wouldn't enjoy the way you'd expect. You know, like when they do focus group testing on a movie to make the sequel 'better,' and they end up making it terrible because there's nothing holding all the gore/sex/action that people wanted together. Had Knytt been the way you wish, you probably wouldn't have enjoyed it at all, because then the game would have been deprived of Nifflas' beautiful way of letting you experience a story, which is the 'glue' of the whole game, that which puts everything in place. |
