With the new boards come new life! That is, a new thread for the now-dubbed SB:TO crew. Here we will make plans, organize meet-ups, and whisper sweet nothings. _________________ Illustration Portfolio | The Gamer's Quarter

I believe the first order of business is to locate all our missing members and regroup!
Then the second order of business would be to pool our wiimotes together to form IC/SB TORONTO: WIIMOTE MAYHEM! |

Can I apply to be an honorary member of SB:Toronto? Come on, we can take down the rival gang members Canadian style and all that. Fo realz.
Also, does Mat know about select button? I'll email him and tell him. _________________

He does, Persona. Though it may not know about this chapter's resurgence!
Yes, folks, we need to play soon and soon. I know the holidays are upon us, but seeing as I'm a dirty pagan, I don't have any plans and this year I'm sticking close to home. Let's do what Ed says: let's get some Wii action going.
But HOLY FUCK there's a maid café in Toronto!? Well, Scarborough. If anyone can offer a car, that would make things easier, but either way I'm game to go! I think Nancy would want to come, though! :-p
Whose turn is it to host, if we bring Wiis?
EDIT: Oh my fuck, check out the "Our Staff" page on that maid café site and roll over the image of the man on the left.

That's what they used to call the bartender-like guy who ran the coffee houses back in like an older, friendlier Japan. They'd be at the front, wiping glasses as people would walk in, door jingling, and then he'd look up and greet them with a smile and say their name because he'd know everyone's name and they'd all love him back and happy times until modernization and Starbucks came and destroyed them all.
Man, I want to see a maid cafe too. Damn you Canucks. ;_; _________________

I would, but my place is too cramped for a 4 player wiifest I think. Also I'm holding out for Killer Instinct. The American style Astro City control panel is coming together and we're hoping to have it ready for action before christmas, though that's probably a tad optimistic.
But we should get together! I just attained the next rank in Tetris Grand Master and I feel like celebrating. |

My last day is the 13th, as I only have a critique left.
Oh, Ed, I thought I saw you downtown the other week, I even yelled out "CANADIAN ED!" in hopes that youd turn around. I was in the Eaton Center at the foodcourt? _________________ --

SO WHEN SHOULD WE DO THIS PEOPLE
Tuesdays aren't good for me. The 28th is my birthday (which by the way you guys are welcome to come to). Apart from that, I'm mostly free.
You guys? |

Wait, what now? o_O
Okay, lemme rephrase.
The 28th is my birthday and I've got a dinner/party thing planned, which by the way you guys are welcome to attend if you so wish. But I was trying to ask if anybody had any ideas for dates outside of that range.
Unless if you guys seriously want to combine "SB: TORONTO: DECEMBER 2006" with "SB: ED'S BIRTHDAY DINNER/PARTY" into one event. o_O |

Hey guys what's going on?
BUT SERIOUSLY
I finally registered, not because I particularly want to (I would have preferre to lurk forever) but because I
a) realised I'd never chat with the IC:TO 'massiv' if I didn't
and
b) I got Guitar Hero II with TWO GUITARS and A DELICIOUS KATAMARI CAKE for my birthday
SADLY HOWEVER
c) the cake is almost completely eaten
d) MY PS2's FUCKING DRIVE BROKE FFS
So my question to you is -
My PS2 is chipped. Where is the best (read: cheapest) place to get the drive replaced? The shop down at Eglinton quoted "60-70" dollars, but I was hoping Pacific Mall might do it cheaper (like in the $50 range.)
Do you think that's likely? Shitting fuck I want to play Guitar Hero.
BTW
Lestrade, did you give up on the charity idea? Maybe next year? _________________ "Did you read that mr. ignorant new games journalist? YOU JUST DON'T FUCKING GET IT. "

Man where are my westside homies at? Seriously, this IC:TO eastside gang don't fly if there's no rival.
No british columbians about? Come on. I would even settle for Alberta. _________________ o-/< --- o-\< --- o-|-| --- o^-< |

Aerisdead, why must you insult us and yet hold us dear at the same time!?
I'd think that Pacific Mall would be a good bet. There's a guy who runs a messy electronics store there, just to the right of the centre of the mall, on the ground floor (near the escalators); he looks like a Chinese Mr. Bean, and he fixed my PS1 lazors back in the day. There are a few people in Chinatown Centre you could ask, too.
I have not given up on the charity, but it'll have to wait until next year. I'm trying to reboot my career right now.
I know it's the holidays, but I'm not visiting family this year, which means I'll be in TO the entire time. I'm off from the 22nd to the 2nd, and I'll have some time to meet, if anyone wants to. What's everyone's schedule like during the holiday?
I bought Nancy Cooking Mama in hopes that she'll, you know, cook me something. Maybe something as cool as that cake?
Happy belated birthday, you internet ninja you! _________________ Illustration Portfolio | The Gamer's Quarter |

I'm sorry aerisdead but I've never had a PS2 fixed in Toronto at all
I live in constant fear of my PS2's laser wearing out on me, which is why I run most of my games including the ones I bought off the hard drive to avoid using the laser.
It can't hurt to ask at Pacific Mall though!
but happy birthday and that's a kickass cake that's now had the honour of being pasted everywhere on the internet too!
skonrad are you really not coming back to us :(
so what's the plan now, really? let's get something concrete down already.
oh and i just finished playing ryu ga gotoku 2 / yakuza 2 and it was awesome |

For everyone's attention:
Pacific Mall stone cold sucks for PS2 laser replacement; everyone wanted between $80 to $100 and didn't even have the fucking parts in stock. I'm going to try my luck with the place in Eglinton tommorow, probably. I'd like to have it fixed before Christmas, as unlikely as that is. Or at least before the end of the year, anyway.
I mean I have some fucking Guitar Hero II to play, people! _________________ "Did you read that mr. ignorant new games journalist? YOU JUST DON'T FUCKING GET IT. "

Hey Mat, I was going to buy a PS2 soon anyways (it's about time eh?). I'm not sure how long Gamarama will take, but if you want I could let you break mine in for me while yours is out for repairs. Or maybe someone else is feeling generous?
I'm being forced to work christmas day, boxing day, and new years, so it would feel good to know someone out there has an actual holiday during which they can... have a holiday. |

If you need somebody generous enough to lend you a PS2 for a period up to 30 days, I know of two people that can do that for you if you're desperate, and their initials are FS and BB. ;)
Mr. FS saved my ass back in first year when I forgot to bring my calculator to my physics midterm, and lent me the exact same calculator I was used to using for my exam!
of course the catch is that you gotta give him the money for the item and he'll give it back to you when you give it back *cough*
okay sue me i am / was poor and broke :( |

I'll see what Gamerama say tommorow and get back to you - it sure would be nice to have the PS2 for the christmas period as I have friends visiting from Scotland who would obviously want to ROCK OUT _________________ "Did you read that mr. ignorant new games journalist?
