|

basically it's transcribing - toups is doing a few now.
we have a ball load of interviews done by me and others, which need transcribing from audio files. It pays a robust $1/minute of audio, which is sometimes good with mine because I have a tendency to stall and say dumb things.
Anyway, it's thankless in that you don't get credit, but if you're super poor and type fast, this can be useful. My interviews range from 30-45 minutes, and will probably take you about an hour or hour and a half to do each, were I to guess. They are of varying difficulty in terms of how well you can hear, how much background noise there is, or how fast peeps speak.
You can post in here with expression of interest or PM me something, and we'll take it from there.
THANKS DOODS

Hell, I'll volunteer. I have a side project that I'd like to fund, so this'd be good. _________________

I've got some free time to throw at it. Consider me interested.
Also, I just now noticed the caption in your avatar. |

Same. I'm not sure what this will be like, but I dig Gamasutra to the point where it might be very good to be involved with them, and this sounds like fun and easy work to me. I'd definitely like to have a try. I already work from home, so my schedule is adaptable to their needs and such.
By the way, Brandon, the latest issue of that game developer mag has lots of cool stuff in it.
Man. I am thinking about this now, and $1/minute of audio, since I am a good typist, well that could be pretty amazing if there is steady work with this. Yeah, I am very interested. |

I would be happy to contribute. Well, not happy. I wouldn't mind. If I like doing it, I suppose I'd be up for more. _________________

What is the time limit?
I'd be up for say one hour. Maybe another hour after that, but I don't want to promise more than one since this may take more time in real life than it does in my head. |

Unless this is wildly different from what I think it'll be, I shall take as much work as they want to give me. A headphone-toting grammar-Nazi with absolutely nothing better to do; how could I pass this up? _________________

Transcribing interviews (or, well, one really really long interview) is how I learned to touch type!
Also, pick me! I need money ever so much.

Have either of us had even one legitimate job since we got here?
My first post is all like ~la la side project~ but I would honestly adore the chance to do this every day. My schedule is wide open, this is stuff that I am genuinely interested in doing, and everybody in my family is giving me the "get a job" look. Gimme gimme! _________________

Yeah, I had one at one point. Got fired for taking three hour long breaks and transporting co-workers around the store in boxes. |

I had a one-off gig filing papers for a Therapist who worked a block from my house. She gave me the keys, and I could come in during the dead of night if I felt like it. But that was like $160, total, and maybe four years ago. Shit. _________________

same reason I don't post every day...too busy/traveling/tired/working on multiple projects.
thanks everybody - you're all gonna get a group email where simon (gamasutra/game developer's publisher) will ask you to transcribe a bit of something - it'll give you a taste of what it's like, and us a taste of how you do. So that's that!
And there'll be plenty of this to do so long as I keep doing interviews. And I'm going to Tokyo for TGS tomorrow, so... _________________

| Cool, a sample transcript job as a test is the equivalent to how I got my current proofreading gig. I guess that's standard. I'm so up for this; it would be a great addition to my work-at-home portfolio. |
