I've been trying to figure out how to make a rock concert a central theme in the next Dead Rising, so you could get the "rock the earth" tagline, but I can't figure out where you would have a rock concert that would provide as much variety as the mall from the first game. _________________

alternatively, a Dead Rising set on a space station would be good, but I can't figure out any clever twist on "in space, no one can hear you scream".
the game would probably be called "Son of Dead Rising", though. _________________

Daisy, you must include all of the peripheral elements and culture surrounding the rock concert as well. Perhaps the game opens with you getting pulled into a mosh pit and suddenly "zomg zombies!" Then just before the zombie singer bites off the drummers head he tosses you the shotgun he keeps in the kick drum and you start grassin' some ass.
Once you manage to get out of the club you're on the street an there are zombie hipsters smoking outside everywhere!
Bam bam bam!!
Then you go up the street to get some food to restore your health because some JIT in-game help informed you about this but whazzaat!?
The guys at the hot dog joint are ZOMBIES!!
GRASS SOME ASS!!
Finally you realize you got to get back to your friend's apartment nearby so you rsuh to the subway!
ZOMBIES IN THE SUBWAY FLOODING OUT FROM ANOTHER CONCERT!!
Then the subway gets stopped on the way and you're at a different club where there's another concert!
And you go inside to get some supplies or something.
GRASSIN' ASS!!
Daisy, this is a fine game idea you have crafted here.
As you progress through the night life of the city various cultures provide their own unique spin on the zombie and influence the mechanics.
Metal Zombies. Goth Zombies. Rock Zombies. Et cetera.
COMPLETE WITH PUNS!!! |

Hmm, restructuring the game as a more linear, setpiece-driven experience.....but keeping the high degree of object interaction and sense of humor....it might work! Yeah, I can see this!
I wonder if you'd be able to fit in a section where you're driving through the city in one of those anti-zombie busses with spike strips stuck to it with duct table, only there's a live band playing on top. _________________

Oh definitely.
As you progress through the city you pickup NPC characters who play different parts in their respective bands.
Lone survivors, as you will.
And once you form the complete band you drive around in this car as the band plays on top while blasting zombies turret-style a la the end of MGS3.
In combat they would not be very useful though. I'm thinking along the lines of SoTN familiars. |

| In fact, instead of having an AI and wandering around like idiots, they should just stay in set locations at each major scene/area and play their instruments perhaps causing the occasional status effect. |

Guys, I think this would even add a cool dynamic to the game where once you build up your band you can start getting through huge zombie mobs in older areas you couldn't before.
Guys, this adds some non-linearity that is cool. |

| Maybe you can build bands with NPCs that play music that affects the zombie-scenesters in different ways? Changes their density/temperaments so you can solve puzzles or access certain areas protected by natural zombie chokepoints? |
