Bully is an amazing game with surprisingly less juvenile humor that is typical of its genre. But just like the rest, it becomes repetive by the third chapter.
But isn't that the problem with all of these sandbox type games? Once you know the city, its just a matter of running from point A to point B with clumsy combat sandwiched between. Some like Bully give you more stuff to do as you progress, but the diminishing returns kick in and you're left feeling "eh".
I wonder if "No More Heroes" can improve upon this idea, by either making the gameplay refined enough to carry through, or by tying it all together with a compelling story.

Hey hey Spider-Man 2 (ok, debatable but I could defend it easily) |
Talking point number one: the mission where you have to crawl on floating colorful blocks hundreds of feet high in an arena.
Its odd though, many moons ago, I remember a friend liking GTA not for any of the concept ideas, but merely because he could steal a car, and go through a series of "sweet jumps". In both Spiderman games, most of the fun comes from the ability to swing around a familiar setting at high speed. Its actually quite exhilerating. Probably even moreso if I lived in New York. |
