Ebrey I corrected the single inaccuracy in your post.

I played Encounters in Space exactly once- right after I finished ZOE 2. After ten minutes, I put it back on my shelf in disgust, where it has stayed since, collecting dust.

But damn it, Simon Belmont, you've made me want to play this game again! However, I will resist the temptation, unless it lets you play as the RX-78GP03 (that massive motherfucker of a Gundam from 0083 Stardust Memory), in which case I'm popping this fucker back in my PS2 SO FAST!

Gamefaqs confirms that both GP-03 forms (the Mobile Armor and just the suit) are in there, but the requirements are kind of steep (unless you are a God of Gaming and then it's like 15 minutes of work I guess). Neue Ziel is available as well, so if you want to grab a friend and shout at each other in splitscreen then yes you can totally do that.

holy fuck the Neue Ziel is so hot

Simon Belmont can you play as a jagd doga if so i'm 2sold

Nah sorry other than the "special" units that were included for fun, everything here is pre-Zeta Gundam. Yeah, it sucks not having a Dijeh or a Doven Wolf around, but it would be impossible to balance Balls and GMs in the create-a-pilot mission mode when things like the Full Armor Double Zeta Gundam and the Nu Gundam are available. As it is, the 0083 units stress the system enough already, which is probably why their unlock requirements and point cost in Versus mode is so, so high.

It'll be a while since Armored Core: Silent Line is kicking my ass, but I eventually want to get Zeonic Front as well. It's the opposite of a Gundam game, but in the Gundam universe--you're the weak cannon-fodder unit going up against things with Plot Armor and funny acronyms. I guess it's the TIE Fighter to most giant robot games' X-Wing, is what I'm saying. This video of the game here is more tense than survival horror games, but I think part of that is knowing what those units are--generally, the opponent in that mission could take down 20 of the green guys without a problem.

Toll, don't forget Campaign Mission 6 in Zeonic Front (Trojan Horse). I still shiver a bit when I remember Amuro Ray counting up to 9, while he leapt from the fog to dispatch of my squad.

Yeah. Zeonic Front is about as mother fucking hardcore as you would expect it to be. Probably a little more. Trojan Horse is just downright scary, since all your targets can basically annihilate you with a single shot.

That one is especially scary the first time you do it, since if you know anything about the original gundam it's like, "Oh my god, this is the mother fucking whitebase, Amuro is gonna come out with that beam rifle and I'm the fucking fodder."

And then he fucking does. And chances are, you die. You die and it is humiliating. It's definitely the best game for capturing the feeling of being on the side that has to fight against the heroes, there's this constant feeling that you're pretty much fucked and there's no way you can win this one. Most missions you go through the briefing and then just kind of sit there wondering how the fuck your supposed to not get outright annihilated under your circumstances.

It's a great game. A great, bitch of a fucking hard game.

*hears the lock on sound*

OH SHIT IT'S A GUNDA- *blowd up*

Classic cutscene from ZOE 2:

Get out of my way!

Find another way!
