| 57,200. Strange little game. Like a really easy Ghosts 'n' Goblins with just a hint of Metal Slug. |

139,200. I like how generous the power-ups are, but I got overzealous during the water area in Stage 2 and it was hard to recover. Fun game! I've also just switched over from keyboard to using a Hori EX2, with XBCD drivers to get it to work with MAME. _________________

Funny thing, after playing Gunbird 2 here I've downloaded a no bomb/no death/1cc superplay for the game...
The guy does some things there that are simply mindblowing...
Also, it sadly made me aware of my levels of lameness concerning shooters in general. No chance in hell I'll be able to play like the guy ever... |

10,100. Blah. I could have definitely done better than this if I had a controller instead of a keyboard. Ctrl + Alt for Buttons 1 and 2 aren't helping me. :\
But it was really fun, and I'll definitely be playing this again. First time I ever touched it. |

If you're talking about the GodHand replay (he uses Aine), then you really shouldn't use that as a yardstick. Just watch it with the mindset of "this is completely ridiculous and over the top". I'd suggest watching Icarus' GB2 vids, as they're far more accessible (you will be able to take something away from them to implement in your own play-style).
Also, suggesting Battle Balls/Mezase Senkyuu Oh. |

TODAY'S GAME IS: BLOOD BROS. (arcade)
I went back and copied down all of the game suggestions, and will continue to do this, so keep 'em coming. Also, when I have a chance, I'm going to throw the raw data from the thread into a spreadsheet and see what happens. _________________

I just didn't have any fun playing it, graphics were nice though.
Just not a game for me, it didn't do anything that would make me want to come back to it.
aside, if you like the graphic style a game called Biomechanical Toy has a somewhat similar look. |

225250 Blowing stuff is the best way to get a lot of score. And damn, it's fun as hell to destroy a mountain with two revolvers.
Lurky, I knew about Biomechanichal Toy. It's fun, not an amazing game, but it's worth a play. Maybe a candidate for a future play in this thread.
For the people who enjoyed this game, there is another one called "Alligator Hunt" and I've heard about a more recent one called Gamshara
And welcome rob. _________________

Gamshara is on Namco's System 10 IIRC, so it's not yet emulated in Mame. |

the falcon is telling you that you're spending too much time on a stage being cheap and shooting at the can

SO i should get the FOE meter down to one and then go crazy on the can, shooting the lst dude when falcon appears?
Also, is there such a thing as BEING CHEAP when it comes to playing for score? I think this question should be put to the experts and by experts I mean David Sirlin. _________________

Not really. Arcadia accepts scores obtained using autofire circuitry as long as it doesn't completely break the game. A good example off the top of my head is Darius Gaiden, which is practically a different game with the increased firing rate you get with autofire.
In the event that something like that does break the game (and not even necessarily because of autofire), they'll probably just say that the game has an infinite score problem and no one will bother playing that game for score ever again. You can see a lot of examples of both from a quick perusal of the Arcadia records list.
Twin Galaxies has the opposite approach, but they're also pretty fucking embarrassing, so whatever.
