|
|
so, I just finished playing a bang up show with my (newish) band, Brass Bed, which ended with a raucous, ovation-inspiring cover of the Flaming Lips's Race For the Prize.
and now there's this dull, unrelenting pressure in my ears that wont seem to go away.
so it seems that years of playing rock and roll music are finally catching up with me, and I'm starting to lose my hearing.
sooooooooo does anyone have any advice or recommendations for earplugs or other general hearing-preservation strategies? _________________

If you want musicians earplugs, check out Etymotic. They can set you up with an audiologist and get ear molds, then they'll custom make you a set of earplugs that retain nearly linear frequency response. I have a set for concert-going and they're fantastic.
Not exactly cheap, but certainly worth it if you're in loud environments a lot that also require the sound you hear to be as close tonally to what's being produced.
[edit] Looks like they have new high-fidelity earplugs that do a similar job, but cost significantly less ($12). Might be worth looking into I suppose. |

I'm suitably impressed.
ironically, when we played that song last night, christian produced some unbearably loud, extraordinarily high pitched guitar feedback which I had no choice but suffer through without covering my ears, as I had to play keyboard and stuff.
it really really hurt :( _________________
