What about good old no-doze?

Alternately, get up and run three laps around the outside of whatever building you're in.

sleep when you can.

Keep note, this week I've been sleeping in 2 4 hour intervals a day.

Doing this will DRIVE YOU INSANE.

Usually takes a week to ten days for the autonomic system to figure out the new pattern.

I keep wanting to get into a Fullerian polyphasic; 30 minute nap every five and a half hours. But I don't. So there. Guh, I've been sleeping too many hours lately.

ON TOPIC: I dunno. You probably can't justify a prescription to Provigil, so I got nuthin'.

If I'm driving and trying to stay awake I turn on the radio to any station playing some kind of rock and attempt to scream along with it. Screaming really helps keep you awake.

I was once awake for 34 hours, a 3 hour portion of which was driving across the state, and felt absolutely no side effects whatsoever. I don't know how I did it, but really wish I could do so again.

if you have a phobia of ____, keep ____ around to scare you?

I once played DDR at a point when I had been awake around 30 hours. I didn't do too bad either. after a certain point it gets easier to stay awake. you go insane and turn into a mindless zombie, but your body can stand it.

Maybe it is a Mississippi thing?

Watch scary movies.

Fear and laughter are good at keeping you awake because emotions energize the mind and those emotions are easier to come by and less subtle than joy and sorrow.

Set up some kind of alarm clock for 10 minutes from the time you set it. Every time before it goes off, set it for another 10 minutes. If you fall asleep it'll go off and wake you up, and you set it for another 10 minutes.

See I have a deadline for tomorrow morning so I couldn't sleep but the reviews are done and sent to the editor and now I just plain can't sleep. Works like a charm.

running around the block also jogs your adrenaline gland! (no pun intended)

meth is the best answer actually

followed by no-doz or other no-doz substitute. we've got longs brand Stay Awake tablets at the moment! they work well if you need to stay up up to 30 hours.

Take a scalding hot shower. And I do mean hot.

Wakes me up like nothing else in the mornings and it feels damn good.

and for those of us who can't withstand being cooked alive the other setting i.e. extreme cold also works very well.

If you're doing stimulants though, mind the shakes when you try to thread that needle.

I do this often. In fact, I pulled a lot of 30 hourish days and then a few 3 hour sleep days on the Disgaea: AOD guide before I finished it this week.

Generally I listen to fast music and comedy routines. I also ended up rewatching (well, relistening.) to season 2 of Supernatural.

the problem is not staying awake overnight, it's being able to stay awake the next day. I can survive a lot better on two hours of sleep than 4 hours. Staying awake the entire time is generally not an option, though.

I've been having trouble staying awake in my classes because I'm not used to them starting at 7am. The secret I've found is candy. If I eat some candy before going to class I have no trouble staying up anymore.
