Had the same problem with my wireless card on my laptop after installing Gutsy Gibbon. My laptop uses a Broadcom wireless adapter, which was like 'HAY, use a restricted driver to work'. So I go to load the driver and it's all 'HELL NO GTFO'. So I searched online with my PC, and I found that they sort of made access to the restricted drivers retarded to the point that a lot of users are complaining online (apparently this is a low-level complaint).
Anyways, you go to the Synaptic Package Manager under Administration. Go to Repositories under Settings and start checking boxes, especially Proprietary Drivers for Devices (Restricted). Then connect to the internet via a proper wire and go back to the Restricted Drivers Manager. Click the drivers you want to run and hope for the best!
Hope that helps the issue, and hurrah...my first Linux tutorial. |
