i am married to xubuntu right now, if only because it loads super fast, looks nice enough for how simple it is and works wonderfully on my pentium 3 @ 800 mhz ibm thinkpad a21m (which, in accordance with naming my networked electronics after weapons, is called claymore).
i suggest that you use automatix to deal with any problems you have with video drivers. just note that it has the awfully nasty tendency to sometimes completely drive your installation batshit insane,
about your wireless: most integrated cards tend to not work -- you might have to spring for an external adapter. i suggest anything with the rt2500 chipset, since that chipset tends to like working out of the box. at any rate, don't ask me why your integrated chipset doesn't work, i don't know and that's more of an ubuntuforums question (which they will not be able to give you a solid enough reply, probably).
get on google and look for "wicd manager ubuntu," which will give you some information on the wicd network manager, which i use instead of the default network manager for ubuntu (which i've since disabled).
as for anything else: lolusux _________________ select button
i've gotta let go. i've gotta get straight. why'd you have to make it so hard? let me get away.
