I got laid through craigslist, though in a rather roundabout way. Basically there are three sections for this sort of thing: missed connections, for when you noticed / were flirting with someone but didn't get their number and you're crossing your fingers hoping they check craigslist obsessively; casual encounters if you're looking to get laid quick, especially if you wanna do something kinky (also if you're looking to catch a disease); and general personals, for when you're looking for, you know, dating.

I responded to someone's personal ad; turned out she went to my school. We met, it was kinda awkward, we became friends but didn't see each other often, then hooked up much, much later at a Halloween party. One of my best friends met her current boyfriend by posting an ad and weeding through the responses. If you can manage something like this, it's ok--plenty of women posting personals are down for a simple shag as well!--but I'd stay away from the casual encounters section. Most of it is prostitutes, ads, and reposts anyway.
